Privacy Policy

Data Collection

Meteonaut does not collect any data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Nothing is sent to Turntide AI, and there is no server of ours for it to be sent to.

What Leaves Your Mac

Meteonaut needs the network for one thing: fetching the forecast. When it does, it asks MeteoSwiss for the weather at a specific Swiss locality, identified by a number derived from its postal code. That identifier, and nothing else about you, is what travels.

Location

Using your location is optional, and the app works without it — you can simply pick a town by hand.

If you do grant it, the position fix is used entirely on your Mac. It is matched against a list of Swiss localities bundled inside the app to work out which town you are nearest, and only that town is used from then on. Your coordinates are never transmitted anywhere.

Data Storage

The following is stored locally on your Mac and never leaves it:

• The town you selected, and the town resolved from your location if you enabled it
• A cached copy of the most recent forecast, so the widget can draw immediately and keeps working offline
• Your display preferences for each widget

App Sandbox

Meteonaut and its widget both run in Apple's App Sandbox. Their only entitlements are outgoing network access, the shared container the app and the widget use to pass the forecast between them, and location — which the widget does not have at all.

Data Deletion

Moving the app to the Trash removes its cached forecasts and preferences with it. Location access can be withdrawn at any time in System Settings under Privacy & Security.
