Tagsmith

Edit the tags on your music files — one track or a whole album at once. Every batch change shows you exactly what it will do before it does it, and your audio is never re-encoded.

Features

A whole album, in one pass

🏷️

Edit many at once

Select any number of files and type once. Fields the files disagree on show as Multiple values and stay untouched unless you edit them.

👁️

See it before you do it

Find and replace, case conversion, numbering and renaming each preview their changes line by line. Undo puts everything back.

🔤

Find and replace

Across any field, literal or regular expression, case sensitive or not. Title Case keeps names like MGMT and iPhone intact.

📁

Filenames both ways

Build filenames from tags with a pattern, or read tags back out of filenames. Track numbers are padded so folders sort 01, 02, 03.

🖼️

Cover art

Add, replace, export or remove artwork, with its dimensions and size shown. Drag an image straight onto the well.

🔒

Your files stay intact

The audio stream is copied byte for byte. Saves are written to a temporary file and swapped in, so an interrupted save cannot leave a half-written track.

Built for real libraries

The formats most music is actually in, handled properly rather than approximately.

MP3, M4A and FLAC ID3v2.2, v2.3 and v2.4, MP4 atoms, Vorbis comments
Nothing quietly dropped Tags the editor does not model are preserved on save
Every raw tag listed An inspector shows what is really in the file
Batch numbering Number a tracklist in one pass, totals filled in
Drag and drop Drop a folder on the window, or open files from Finder
No account, no ads Nothing is collected and nothing leaves your Mac
